What Is EMDR IGTP?

What Is EMDR?

Healing Through an Evidence Based Approach

Trauma can leave lasting effects on the mind, body, and nervous system. Even years after a traumatic experience, memories may continue to trigger overwhelming emotions, anxiety, fear, shame, or feelings of being "stuck."

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is an evidence based psychotherapy approach designed to help the brain process distressing experiences in a healthier way. Rather than simply talking about trauma, EMDR helps individuals reprocess difficult memories so they become less emotionally overwhelming and no longer have the same impact on daily life.

The goal of EMDR isn't to erase your memories. Instead, it helps reduce the emotional distress connected to those experiences, allowing you to move forward with greater peace, resilience, and hope.

What Is EMDR Integrative Group Treatment Protocol (IGTP)?

The EMDR Integrative Group Treatment Protocol (IGTP) is a structured, trauma informed adaptation of EMDR designed specifically for healing within a group setting.

Throughout the six week cohort, participants are guided through carefully planned exercises that encourage emotional processing, nervous system regulation, and personal reflection while remaining in a safe and supportive environment.

Although participants heal alongside others, each person moves through the process at their own pace. The focus is on creating an experience that is both supportive and clinically sound.

Will I Have to Share My Story?

No.

One of the unique strengths of EMDR IGTP is that participants are never required to share the details of their traumatic experiences in front of the group.

While opportunities for discussion and connection are available, you are always free to determine what you wish to share. Many participants find comfort in knowing they can engage in meaningful healing while maintaining their privacy and personal boundaries.

Our commitment is to provide a compassionate environment where every participant feels respected, emotionally safe, and empowered throughout the healing process.

Why We Use EMDR IGTP

We believe healing happens best when evidence based treatment is combined with compassionate support.

Our EMDR Healing Groups provide a structured framework that allows participants to:

  • Develop practical tools for emotional regulation

  • Reduce the emotional intensity associated with traumatic memories

  • Strengthen resilience and coping skills

  • Experience support within a safe and professionally facilitated community

  • Move toward healing with greater confidence and hope

Each session follows a carefully designed structure grounded in evidence-based practices while honoring the unique experiences and pace of every participant.

We believe that healing is possible. While trauma may shape part of your story, it does not have to define your future. Through evidence based care, compassionate support, and a safe therapeutic environment, our hope is to help you move from surviving toward living with greater freedom, resilience, and hope.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this the same as individual EMDR therapy?

No. While this group uses the EMDR Integrative Group Treatment Protocol (IGTP), it differs from individual EMDR therapy. The protocol has been specifically adapted for a group setting and is designed to promote healing while respecting each participant's privacy. Individual therapy offers more personalized attention, whereas IGTP provides the added benefit of healing within a supportive community.

Will I have to share the details of my trauma?

No. You are never required to disclose the details of your experiences. Many of the therapeutic exercises are completed privately, allowing you to participate fully while maintaining your personal boundaries. Sharing is always voluntary.

Where will the sessions be held at?

All sessions will be held in person at: Boynton Beach Cowork
2405 Quantum Blvd.
Boynton Beach, FL 33426

What happens after I apply?

After submitting your application, you'll be contacted to schedule a brief screening conversation. This allows us to answer your questions, learn more about your goals, and determine whether this cohort is the best fit for your healing journey.

What is the cost of the six week cohort?

Investment details are provided during the application process and on the registration page. We encourage prospective participants to first learn about the program to ensure it aligns with their healing goals.

Is everything discussed in the group confidential?

Yes. We are committed to creating a safe and respectful environment. All participants are expected to honor the privacy of fellow group members by keeping personal information shared during sessions confidential. While facilitators emphasize confidentiality and group expectations, we cannot absolutely guarantee the actions of every participant.

How many people will be in the group?

Each cohort is intentionally limited to 10–20 participants. Keeping the group this size helps foster meaningful connection while allowing facilitators to maintain a safe and supportive therapeutic environment.

Do I need to be in individual therapy to participate?

Not necessarily. Some participants are currently working with an individual therapist, while others are not. During the screening process, we'll discuss your current support system and determine whether this group is an appropriate option for your needs.

What happens if I miss a session?

Because each session builds upon the previous one, we encourage participants to attend all six sessions whenever possible. Consistent attendance helps foster trust within the group and allows you to receive the greatest benefit from the program.

We understand that unexpected situations can arise. If you need to miss a session, please notify one of the facilitators as soon as possible. While individual make up sessions are not available, we'll work with you to determine the best way to help you stay connected with the group's progress and discuss whether continuing in the cohort remains clinically appropriate.

Can I join after the group has already started?

No. To help create a safe, cohesive, and trusting group environment, enrollment closes once the first session begins. All participants start and complete the six week cohort together.
